“What Can be Learned from the Research? Findings from a U.S. Initiative to Broaden Participation in Computing”

This session will describe what we have learned from “BRAID”, a U.S. initiative to broaden participation in undergraduate computing fields. Focus will be on the research that has been conducted to understand what is effective (or ineffective) in computing diversity efforts in higher education. We will draw from our mixed-method social science research to share key lessons learned about efforts to diversify computing programs. Findings and related projects can be accessed on our website: Momentum: Accelerating Equity in Computing and Technology.
