What is happening in UK Schools for CS and how can you get involved?

Abstract:

Over the last ten years, Computing at School (www.computingatschool.org.uk/) has led increased coordination among UK teachers and administrators in the equitable expansion of computing opportunities for students in schools; and Technocamps (technocamps.com) has led in addressing the same issues in Wales. Presenters will illustrate the previous, current and future pipelines of computer science studies; and the challenges, not just gender, but also social-economic and geographic.  The presenters will describe current initiatives in the UK and how you and your colleagues can contribute; and you will leave inspired with a plan of how you can get involved to help improve diversity and inclusion in your institution, for example by hosting an Isaac Computer Science event.
