Marking 50 Years of Computer Science in the UK
The 2015 CPHC Conference and Annual General Meeting was held on Monday/Tuesday the 27th/28th of April 2015 at Queen Mary University of London (QMUL). The theme of the conference was ‘Impact‘.
With the published REF results in everyone’s minds, ‘impact’ was an excellent focus for the 2015 conference. However, ‘impact’ has more than purely a research flavour. Good teaching naturally has ‘impact’, as does effective industrial and governmental liaison, public engagement and much more. These areas all contributed to relevant and interesting presentations, workshops and debates with appropriate keynote speakers and facilitators adding strength and depth to the programme.
Topics and speakers provisionally included:
- Introducing our new patron – Maggie Philbin
- CS Graduate Employability
- HEFCE, EPSRC and HEA sessions
- Understanding and succeeding with Horizon 2020 applications
- CS in the UK, Europe and across the world
- The Athena Swan initiative
- … and several more
