Abstract:

The National Science Foundation has been funding research to broaden participation in computing (BPC) for over a decade.  NSF program director Jeff Forbes will describe current funding priorities and also share several success stories.  In addition to the NSF, in the US there is substantial philanthropic funding from both companies and foundations for BPC.  Carla Brodley will describe the efforts of the Center for Inclusive Computing to increase women graduates of computer science which is funded via philanthropic support.
