The 2023 CPHC Conference will be held on Monday 3rd and Tuesday 4th April at the University of Central Lancashire (UCLan), Engineering Innovation Centre Building (EIC), Maudland Road, Preston PR1 2XS

The event is due to start with parallel pre-conference workshops on the morning of Monday 3rd April (10:00-11:00):
- New Heads workshop
- Mentoring workshop
The main Conference start time is 11:00 and will close at approximately 15:30 on Tuesday 4th April followed by a post-conference workshop for non-CPHC members at CPHC member institutions to attend (16:00-17:00):
- Future Academic Leaders workshop
The main Conference programme includes:
Keynote address by Wonkhe, update on CPHC activities, panel discussions on the Teaching and Learning of Computer Science (including ChatGPT), Equality Diversity and Inclusion challenges, Institute of Coding future work, an update on BCS Education strategy, industry focused keynote talk by a speaker from the National Cyber Force, followed by an industry panel discussion chaired by Dave McHugh from the Pinnacle Pet Group. All of this and more, supported by plenty of networking opportunities and a stupendous conference dinner in a historic building.

The Conference Dinner on the evening of Monday 3rd April will be held at Bistrot Pierre which is approximately 10 minutes walk from the Conference venue. A drinks reception will be held on the Student Centre Roof Terrace at UCLan prior to the Conference Dinner. You will be able to indicate on the booking system whether you wish to bring a guest. Please complete all of the necessary sections including menu choices so that we can arrange adequate catering requirements.
Note: There are limited places for the workshops, so please book early.

*We are offering the opportunity for potential leaders/heads to attend the Conference including participation in the post conference workshop, so that new and developing academics will have a chance to develop extended networks, that will support their career growth and connect with the activities of the CPHC.
The 2023 CPHC Annual General Meeting will be held at the end of the first day of the Conference, at which the election of CPHC Committee Members will be held.
FAQs
What are my transport/parking options for getting to and from the Conference?
Attendees requiring a parking space on campus (£2.75 per day) should tick the appropriate box(es) when booking and a parking permit will be arranged. The UCLan Preston campus map also includes travel information.
What are the accommodation options?
A discounted rate of £71 per night is available for a limited number of rooms at the Legacy Hotel in central Preston. Further information on this and other accommodation is available on the Hotel Information webpage.
Will I be able to join the Conference online?
CPHC members will be sent a link to join the Annual General Meeting on Monday 3rd April (16:45-17:00). All other sessions at the Conference will be face to face only.
What’s the refund policy?
A full refund will be issued if a cancellation is received within 14 days of the booking date, otherwise, named substitutions will be allowed after this date.
Do I have to bring my printed ticket to the event?
It’s not necessary to bring a printed ticket with you to the Conference. Please sign in on arrival at the CPHC registration desk.
Is my registration fee or ticket transferrable?
We are happy to take named substitutions if you are unable to make it, please update your booking with the new details or email cphc@bcs.uk to request the update manually.
